Ambedkarnagar: Akbarpur Sugar Mill Mijhaura will crush 11 lakh more tonnes of sugarcane this year than last year, according to mill officials. The mill’s target for the 2023-24 crushing season is 114 lakh quintal, up from 103 lakh quintal last year, reported Amar Ujala.
Preparations for the new crushing season are already underway at the mill. Cleaning and maintenance work is being carried out at the mill, and machinery is being repaired.
It’s important to note that there are 52,000 sugarcane farmers in the district, cultivating sugarcane across 24,000 hectares of land. The mill has also increased the number of sugarcane purchase centers from 36 to 42 this year. The additional centers will be set up in different parts of the district to make it easier for sugarcane farmers to sell their produce.
Arvind Singh, assistant general manager of the mill, said that farmers will not face any problems in selling their sugarcane this year. He said that all farmers will be provided with tickets on time, and that the sugarcane will be purchased in a fair and transparent manner.
