According to the latest reports by India Meteorological Department, the significant weather features are as below :
Advance of Southwest Monsoon:
♦ The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Lat. 24°N/ Long. 60°E, Lat. 24°N/ Long. 65°E, Deesa, Chittorgarh, Bikaner and Khajuwala.
♦ Conditions are favorable for further advance of monsoon into remaining parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat during next 2 days. Hence, southwest monsoon is likely to cover the entire country during next 2 days.
Rainfall/thunderstorm Forecast & Warnings:
♦ An east-west trough runs from northwest Rajasthan to northeast Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels. Due to this trough and moist winds from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea over northern parts of the country in lower tropospheric levels:
– Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over West Rajasthan on 02nd; East Rajasthan on 02nd & 04th; Himachal Pradesh on 05th & 06th;
– Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh during 02nd-06th; West Uttar Pradesh on 05th July. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall also very likely over Uttarakhand on 05th & 06th and Himachal Pradesh on 06th July, 2022.
– Scattered/fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha during next 5 days.
– Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during next 5 days; over West Madhya Pradesh on 02nd and 05th & 06th July 2022.
– Fairly widespread/widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely to continue over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during next 4-5 days.
– Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha during next 5 days; Bihar on 02nd & 05th; Jharkhand on 02nd, 03rd & 05th; Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall also likely over Odisha on 04th July 2022.
♦ Under the influence of the off-shore trough at mean sea south Gujarat to south Maharashtra coast and strong westerly/south westerly winds along the west coast in lower tropospheric levels:
– Widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra and Interior Karnataka during next 5 days.
– Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Gujarat Region, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe during next 5 days;
– Madhya Maharashtra on 06th; South Interior Karnataka on 04th-06th; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 02nd & 05th & 06th July 2022.
– Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Gujarat Region and Konkan & Goa on 02nd, 05th & 06th; Coastal Karnataka on 05th & 06th and Kerala & Mahe on 06th July 2022.

♦ Rainfall/thundershower observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at most places over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe; at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Rajasthan and Gujarat; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Odisha, Rayalaseema, Madhya Maharashtra, Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, East Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
♦ Chief amount of Rainfall observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): : (2 cm or more): Ajmer-11; Alibag-9; Bajpe and Bhilwara-8 each; Bulsar and Daman-7 each; Mumbai (Santacruz), Midnapore and Dahanu-5 each; Bhaunagar, Honavar, Narnaul, Alwar and Muzaffarpur-4 each; Kota, Surat, Mangalore, Harnai and Diu-3 each; Jodhpur, Rajkot, Mahabaleshwar, Cannur, Shanti Niketan, Balasore, Valprai, Mumbai (Colaba) and Keshod-2 each.
♦ Yesterday, Heavy rainfall observed at isolated places occurred over East Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka.
♦ Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0530 hours IST of today): at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram &
Tripura, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
♦ Maximum Temperature Departures (as on 01-07-2022): Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many place over Gangetic West Bengal; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Jharkhand; at a few places over Bihar, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, East Madhya Pradesh and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam. They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or more) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at a few places over Rajasthan; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at a few places over West Uttar Pradesh; at isolated places over Konkan & Goa; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Punjab; at many places over Coastal Karnataka; ; at a few places over Kerala & Mahe; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 38.8°C was reported at Madurai (Tamil Nadu).
♦ Minimum Temperature Departures (as on 01-07-2022): Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over West Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Gujarat Region; at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch. They were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and East Rajasthan; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; at a few places over Uttar Pradesh and Konkan & Goa; at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and near normal over rest parts of the country. Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 20.2°C was reported at Seoni (East Madhya Pradesh) over the plains of the country.
