ChiniMandi, Delhi, 31st August 2020 : In a notification issued on 31st day of August 2020, the food ministry has allocated 22 LMT monthly sugar quota for September 2020 to each of 547 mills in India.
According to a recent tweet by the Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD), the allocated quota is sufficient to meet the domestic demand for the month. The quota is 2.5 LMT higher than the quota allocated for sale in September 2019 which stood at 19.5 LMT.
Government of India has released 22 lakh ton quota of sugar for the month of September 2020 for sale by sugar mills in the domestic market. Quota allocated is sufficient to meet the domestic demand for the month.

Monthly release mechanism is a regulation to Indian sugar mills on how much sugar they can sell in the open market on a monthly basis. Sugar mills cannot sell over the quantity stipulated by the Government.
