Nellor, Anhdra Pradesh: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy appealed to the government to clear the pending salary dues of Kovur sugar factory workers, which amount to approximately Rs 20 crore.
Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday, she said that about 3,000 workers are working in the factory, spread over 124 acres. Many of the workers were died, she added.
The MLA further recommended that the government consider repurposing the sugar factory land for other uses. She suggested that industries could be set up on the vast land available in the IFCO Kisan SEZ in Kovur constituency, which would create employment opportunities for the local youth.
