Andhra Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers awaiting for payment dues

Sugarcane growers in Andhra Pradesh are awaiting to get their cane dues cleared. According to the reports, sugar mills owe sugarcane farmers Rs 2,000 crore.

Bojja Dasarath Reddy, president of All-India Farmers’ Association, have been actively spearheading the cause of sugar cane farmers. He said the government had promised to make allocations for farmers in a separate Budget called Agriculture Budget.

Speaking on Chennur sugar factory, he said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had assured cane growers in Kadapa that he would revive the mill, and we welcome the move, but he should first spell out his priorities in mitigating the hardships faced by the farmers

He said the govt had released Rs 30 crores to be paid on priority basis to the cane farmers, the same amount has been used to pay the salaries of the staffs.
