Annual Convention of STAI: Director and scientists from NSI conferred with prestigious awards

Director and other scientists from National Sugar Institute, Kanpur conferred prestigious awards for their extraordinary efforts in developing innovative process techniques and value added products from by-products from the sugar industry. The awards were given by Shri Sanjiv Chopra, Secretary (Food & Public Distribution) Government of India during the Annual Convention of The Sugar Technologists Association of India being held at Thiruvananthapuram from 6-8th September 2023.

Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director and Ms. Shalini Kumari, Research Fellow were conferred Noel Deerr Gold Medal for successfully developing “Silica Nano Particles” from ash of the boilers. Prof. Mohan, Shri Mahendra Yadav and Shri Amresh Pratap Singh were awarded Bansi Dhar Gold Medal for the technology of “Mechanical Vapor Recompression” which will revolutionize the energy consumption patterns resulting in huge savings of fuel.
The team led by Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director and comprising Shri Ashok Garg and Shri Anurag Verma who conducted successful trials on a novel technology for juice concentration without use of steam, was conferred STAI Silver Medal for their effort.
Recognition in such a manner is definitely going to charge all of us and institute will try its best to put forth many other innovative technologies in future, said Director.
