In a joint operation on June 16, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier teamed up with Meghalaya Police to seize more than 19,000 kg of sugar from the Rongra area in South Garo Hills district.

Acting on a tip-off, BSF and Meghalaya Police conducted the operation close to the international border, resulting in the discovery of a huge quantity of sugar stored in an abandoned house, which was reportedly meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
The seized sugar was then handed over to the Rongra Police Station for additional investigation and appropriate legal measures.
