New Delhi: Area under wheat cultivation has increased this season as compared to last year, reports Hindustan Times.
The area under cane cultivation has increased to 15.2 million hectares till November 28 as against 13.8 million hectares during the same period last year.
As per the official data, the area under cane cultivation as on November 28 is already exceeding 57% of the total normal-sown area.
Wheat is the main winter staple in the country and higher cultivation has been reported from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, as per the data.
According to the analysts, there would be sufficient wheat output during 2022-23 after a lower output during summer. The wheat output in summer was lower by 3 million tonnes taking the government’s stock to a 14-year low and leading to higher retail prices of the commodity.
