Around 10 per cent cane standing in fields as mill nears closing operations

Haridwar: The Laksar sugar mill is approaching the completion of its crushing operations for this season, but approximately 10 per cent of the sugarcane remains standing in the fields, awaiting harvesting and crushing, reports Live Hindustan.

Farmers have raised concerns that the mill administration has not provided them with timely receipts, resulting in delays in harvesting their cane. Additionally, the limited operating schedule of the cane collection center, which operates for only one week per month, has made it difficult for farmers to clear their fields. In response, the farmers have requested the mill to increase the number of cane collection centers, allowing them to cut their cane and send it to the mill for crushing.
