Assam: An accident at an ethanol plant leads to death of one worker

One worker was killed and two others were injured in an accident at an under-construction ethanol plant in Sipajhar on Saturday. According to reports, three workers fell from a height while on duty on September 14 around 8:30 a.m., reports India Today NE.

The worker, identified as Sariful Islam, succumbed to his injuries.

As per the media report, other workers have expressed grave concerns over the lack of safety measures at the site. They have stated that necessary precautions to guarantee their safety were not provided, hence putting them in a life-threatening position.

It has drawn demands for adequate compensation for the families of the dead and injured, underlined safety standards, and worker exploitation in the industry, raising the urgent need for reforms in workplace safety regulation.
