Aurangabad, Maharashtra: Sugar mills from Aurangabad division have so far crushed 11 lakh tonne sugarcane in the crushing season 2020-21. Total 19 private and cooperative sugar mills participated in the crushing operations. The mills have produced 7.96 lakh quintals sugar so far.
Total 22 sugar mills had applied for licenses to start sugarcane crushing and the sugarcane commissionerate granted permission to 20 mills. 19 mills have begun operations and one is yet to begin crushing. According to the sugarcane commissionerate, till November 21, these mills have crushed 11.7 lakh tonne sugarcane and have produced 7.96 lakh quintal sugar. The division has witnessed the lowest sugarcane recovery rate in the state which is 6.8 per cent.
