Aurangabad, Bihar: After an extensive four-year search, Aurangabad police have apprehended Vikky Kumar, a notorious criminal who was among the region’s top-ten most wanted individuals. Kumar was the primary suspect in a significant sugar truck robbery that occurred in 2021, reported The Times of India.
According to Aurangabad Superintendent of Police (SP) Ambareesh Rahul, the arrest took place on Tuesday as part of a special anti-crime operation conducted by the police force. The crime in question occurred on February 2, 2021, when a group of unidentified individuals stopped a truck near the Sher-e-Punjab Line Hotel in Ghatrain, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Madanpur police station. The truck driver, Parshuram Rana, along with his assistant and conductor, were taken hostage while the truck, carrying 250 quintals (equivalent to 500 sacks) of sugar, was stolen.
Following the robbery, a special investigation team (SIT) was formed and supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar-02 (Madanpur). To date, 11 of the 19 individuals accused in the case have been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. The stolen truck was recovered from the Nalanda district, and the stolen sugar sacks were located in America Bigaha, a locality in the neighboring Nawada district.
The SIT utilized various investigative techniques, including the analysis of CCTV footage, information gathered from informants, and technical surveillance, to finally locate and apprehend Vikky Kumar, who had successfully avoided capture for over four years. During questioning by the police, Kumar admitted to his involvement in the crime. He has since been placed in judicial custody.
