Baghpat: Benefiting from the government’s decision to increase sugarcane prices, the first to reap rewards are around 13,000 farmers associated with the Bagpat Sugar Mill, reported Amar Ujala.
A sum of three crores rupees, reflecting the increased rates, has been disbursed and will be credited to the accounts of these farmers. In addition, the outstanding dues for sugarcane up to January 7 have been sent to the committee, totaling six crores and 12 lakh rupees.
On January 18, the state government raised sugarcane prices by Rs 20. Before this, payments to farmers were being made based on the old sugarcane price of 350 rupees per quintal from sugar mills. Bagpat sugar mill had already completed payments to farmers by December 31.
