Sherpur, Bangladesh: In response to the skyrocketing sugar prices and concerns over illegal imports, a police operation was conducted in Sherpur Sadar city, resulting in the seizure of 52 sacks of sugar concealed near a sand heap on Tuesday.
The drive was initiated by the police following a tip-off received regarding suspicious activities in the area. Each of the confiscated sugar sacks weighs approximately 50 kg, but the owner of the seized stock remains unidentified at present.
Officer-in-Charge Basir Ahmed Badal of Sherpur Sadar Police Station expressed suspicions of potential illegal importation behind the discovered sugar hoard. In light of these concerns, a case has been registered with the police station to investigate the matter further.
