ChiniMandi: Instead of Brazil, Bangladesh has decided to import raw sugar from India. In January, February and March, around 6 to 7 LMT of sugar will be exported from Maharashtra.
As per sources, Bangladesh’s Meghana group, City group and Deshbandhu groups have raw sugar processing refineries for which every year around 25 LMT to 30 LMT raw sugar is imported from Brazil.
Every time after the documentation it takes more than a month to get the delivery from Brazil, in India it’s expected that Bangladesh will receive the sugar within 10-12 days as well as it’s cheaper by Rs. 140-150 per Qtl.
As per sources, these positive factors are the reason that Govt. of Bangladesh has shown green flag towards the sugar import from India
