Dhaka: Bangladesh expects to receive sugar imports from India before the holy month of Ramadan, according to State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu.
“We’ve already requested 100,000 tonnes of sugar from India and received confirmation for 50,000 tonnes,” Titu stated on Sunday. “However, we remain hopeful of securing the full amount requested.”
The Foreign Minister has secured assurances from India regarding the sugar supply, with further positive news expected by Thursday.
Titu emphasized the government’s efforts to ensure essential goods availability during Ramadan, mentioning exploring imports from other neighboring countries as well.
