Solapur: As sugar season comes to an end, still many sugar mills in the district have not paid full fair and remunerative price (FRP) to sugarcane farmers.
The revenue department has issued orders to the concerned officials to check the bank account statements of sugar mills to verify their claims of FRP payment.
Some mills have claimed that they have paid FRP to farmers, whereas cane growers refuted it saying they have not received the cane arrears amount in their bank amount.
Following which, Srikant Patil, Tehsildar attached with the revenue department has issued orders to check the bank account statements of the mills.
The decision was taken in a meeting convened at the office of district collectorate on Saturday. The government officials have stated they will initiate action against the mills which have not paid FRP to farmers.
