Farmers demand to hike sugarcane price to Rs 450 per quintal

Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Majdoor Sanghatan organised a morcha demanding to hike sugarcane price to Rs 450 per quintal and clear pending cane dues, reports Amar Ujala.

The protesting farmers organised a march in Bisalpur and handed over the memorandum of their demands to the concerned authorities.

V M Singh, national president of the organisation, had earlier appealed to the farmers to participate in the agitation.

In Bisalpur, farmers launched a march at the Tehsil office and after demonstrating for more than one hour they handed over the list of their demands addressed to the governor to SDM R K Rajvanshi. Their main demand was to hike sugarcane purchase price to Rs 450 per quintal and payment of pending cane dues within 15 days.
