Dhampur, Uttar Pradesh: Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ambawat) district-level panchayat was held in Dhampur tehsil. Various problems of farmers were raised in the panchayat. Farmers have demanded to increase sugarcane purchase rate up to Rs 500 per quintal and also warned that if the government fails to meet their demand then they will launch an agitation.
Farmers claim that the prices of all things including pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers and all others have been increased which has increased the input costs for cane cultivation. And they don’t have enough money to meet their daily needs.
