Garhmukteshwar: Sugarcane crushing season is all set to commence in Uttar Pradesh, but many sugar mills have yet not cleared all cane dues. Therefore, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) staged a demonstration against sugar mills. BKU raised slogans against the sugar mill for the delay in clearing pending cane arrears.
Following their agitation, the sugar mill administration handed over the cheque of arrears worth Rs 30 crore and assured that the remaining amount will be cleared soon.
Sugarcane farmers say that due to the financial crisis they are unable to meet their daily needs.
