BHEL secures contract for Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has clinched a significant contract from NTPC Ltd. through International Competitive Bidding (ICB) for the establishment of the 2×800 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III on an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis.

The upcoming plant will be situated adjacent to the existing 2,000 MW thermal power station at Singrauli in the Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. Notably, the Singrauli TPS, initially established by BHEL in 1982, marked NTPC’s maiden power plant venture in Uttar Pradesh. The machinery previously installed by BHEL at Singrauli has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance since its inception.

BHEL’s manufacturing units located at Haridwar, Trichy, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ranipet, and Bhopal will supply key equipment for the project. Playing a pivotal role in fortifying the nation’s energy security, BHEL is renowned for its state-of-the-art technological solutions. With a substantial portfolio encompassing over 134,000 MW of thermal power plants installed across the country (~57%), BHEL stands as the frontrunner in thermal utility projects.

To date, BHEL has secured contracts for 68 Supercritical Steam Generators (SGs) and 63 Supercritical Turbine Generators (TGs) nationwide. Among these, 34 SGs and 25 TGs have been successfully commissioned and are presently operational, showcasing BHEL’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for India’s power infrastructure needs.
