Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced the hike of the sugarcane purchase price in the state by Rs 20 per quintal for the crushing season 2021-22.
The announcement comes ahead of the scheduled meeting of the cabinet in West Champaran district on December 21 which is major sugarcane producing region in the state.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Nitish Kumar said that the purchase rate of the best variety of sugarcane would be increased from Rs 315 per quintal to Rs 335 per quintal, the price of general variety cane would be increased from Rs 295 per quintal to Rs 315 per quintal and that of low variety cane would be increased from Rs 272 per quintal to Rs 285 per quintal.
