Sitamarhi: Representatives from various farmer organisations convened at the Bihar Kisan Sabha in Sitamarhi under the leadership of Hrishikesh Kumar, leader of the Jay Kisan Aandolan, reported Prabhat Khabar.
During the meeting, it was pointed out that despite the announcement of reopening the sugar mill in Riga, there was no response in the two consecutive tenders, leaving the mill idle.
The payment of Rs. 53 crore dues for sugarcane farmers was still pending, and farmers were not compensated for the damages caused by pest attacks. Additionally, despite the rising costs, the sugarcane price in Bihar has increased by only 15-20 rupees over the past three years.
Among those present were leaders of the movement, including Dr. Anand Kishore, Jayprakash Rai, Jalandhar Yadavanshi, Baidyanath Hathi, Chandradev Mandal, Shashidhar Sharma, Vishwanath Bundela, Bhola Bihari, Sanjay Kumar, Suresh Baitha, Nandkishore Mandal, Ashok Kumar Singh, Rambabu Singh, Vimal Kishore Ram, Shivshankar Prasad, Shriprakash Purve, Mo Akbar, Pappu Kumar, Mo Noor Alam, and Suresh Rai.
