Bihar: Farmers urge Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take steps to revive Riga sugar mill

Patna: Sugarcane farmers have urged chief minister Nitish Kumar to intervene and take steps to revive the Riga Sugar Mill, located in the Sitamarhi district of Bihar, reports Newsclick.

The farmers have threatened to intensify protests if if the mill is liquidated.

Farmers along with workers had protested in front of mill’s main gate demanding its opening.

Nagendar Prasad Singh, president of Ikh Utpadak Sangh and Bihar Pradesh Ikh Kastakar Sangh general secretary said, “Thousands of farmers and workers depend on the sugar mill. It is a genuine demand and the best option to provide a livelihood to thousands of sugarcane farmers and workers.”
