Patna: To ensure that sugarcane farmers get financial relief in this grim situation, the Bihar government has asked the private sugar millers from the state to clear pending arrears around Rs 934. 34 crore immediately. The instructions were given by the deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday to the 11 private sugar millers operating in the state.
“The farmers are facing hardship due to the lockdown and in this time if they money, it will be a big relief for them,” the minister said.
Sugarcane arrears have always remained the major issue in India. Well, sugar mills are also facing hardships, as they are unable to sell their sugar due to lockdown. It is impacting their financial position. Also, exports are stuck, therefore, mills are also in trouble.
Central and state governments are trying their best to stop the spread of coronavirus. And to implement the same, the lockdown was one of the measures taken by the government.
