Patna: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress for making what he called “unreal promises” during election campaigns, RJD MP Misa Bharti responded on Saturday, accusing the PM of failing to deliver on his pledge to revive defunct sugar mills in Bihar. Bharti, in a pointed remark, questioned whether Modi had abandoned this promise due to “diabetes,” reported Times of India.
Speaking to the media, Bharti, who was recently elected to the Lok Sabha from Patliputra, reminded that during earlier election campaigns, Modi had promised to reopen Bihar’s closed sugar mills and even sip tea made from locally produced sugar. “The PM is now in his third consecutive term, but none of these promises have been fulfilled,” she said. “Why hasn’t he kept his word? Has he developed diabetes?” Bharti added, with a touch of sarcasm.
The MP further accused Modi of deflecting whenever the opposition poses questions to the ruling coalition at the Centre. Bharti also pointed out that despite the “double engine” governments in Bihar over the last 20 years, no new factories had been set up in the state.
