Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has instructed relevant authorities to explore the possibility of reopening the Riga sugar mill, reported UniIndia.
This directive came during the weekly “Janata Darbar” program, dedicated to addressing public grievances. Responding to a complaint lodged by Ranjit Kumar Mishra, who urged steps to reopen the Riga sugar mill, Kumar directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary measures for its revival.
Mishra highlighted that the reopening of the Riga sugar mill would benefit over five thousand farmers in the region. The prolonged closure of the mill has adversely impacted the interests of local farmers, he asserted.
During the session, Guddu Prasad from Gopalganj district brought to Chief Minister Kumar’s attention the issue of the Sasamusa sugar mill, emphasizing that no payments have been made to farmers for sugarcane purchases between 2017-18 and 2020-21.
