Bihar plans to give compensation to sugarcane farmers affected by flood

Patna: State government has started the process to pay compensation to the flood-affected sugarcane farmers.

As per a news report published in Jagran.com, according to Sugarcane Industries Minister Pramod Kumar, the government decides that the payment of crop damage will be done through the Agriculture Department.

Agriculture Department Secretary N Sarvan Kumar has sought a report from the managers of sugar mills through the concerned district officials and district agriculture officers for assessment. Instructions have been given to prepare a website for taking applications.

The media report stated that Pramod Kumar said that the sugar mills from the state have paid 96 per cent cane payment for the crushing season 2020-21. Four sugar mills from the state named Harinagar, Narkatiaganj, Lauria and Sugauli have cleared 100 per cent of the cane dues to the farmers.
