Bihar: Police seize 5,000 litres of ethanol in raid, three arrested

In an operation on Monday, the police in the Ramnagar police station area of West Champaran district, Bihar, seized nearly 5,000 litres of ethanol. The raid was carried out based on a tip-off, during which the police recovered ethanol stored in a tanker, a Bolero vehicle, and 31 large drums from Paliya village. Three accused were arrested in this case.

Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sushant Kumar Saroj, the raid was led by police personnel. Of the 31 drums recovered, 24 were fully filled with ethanol, while the remaining drums and gallons contained smaller quantities.

According to the police, this ethanol was being used to make petrol by mixing it with various other substances. SDPO Nandji Prasad stated that this action was taken to curb the illegal trade of ethanol in large quantities. The raid shows that ethanol was being illegally stored and smuggled in this area, posing a threat to the law and order situation in the state, reported regional newspaper Prabhat Khabar.

The arrested suspects are being interrogated, and the police expect further revelations in the case. Following this action, the police have decided to maintain strict vigilance over the smuggling of illicit liquor in the area to ensure such crimes are completely controlled.
