Araria, Bihar: A truck loaded with sugar caught fire late last night while travelling from Araria to Kishanganj, Bihar. The incident occurred on National Highway 327E near the Chargharia Border, within the jurisdiction of the Jokihat police station. It is suspected that the fire may have originated from the truck’s engine.
The driver and his assistant were able to escape the vehicle unscathed after the flames rapidly spread. Witnesses from the surrounding area reported seeing flames around midnight and immediately alerted local authorities. Firefighters from both Jokihat and Araria were dispatched to the location.
Despite their best efforts, the fire completely engulfed the truck. The firefighters worked for several hours to control the blaze, but by the time the flames were extinguished, the sugar load had been destroyed.
Araria’s Sub-Divisional Fire Officer, Dhanesh Kumar, said, “Late last night, we received information that a truck had caught fire in the Jokihat police station area. Following the report, the fire brigade was sent to the spot, where the fire was brought under control after hours of hard work by the team members.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Meanwhile, the truck and the sugar bags loaded onto it have been completely destroyed, and local police are working to determine the full extent of the damage.
