Hasanpur, Bihar: In a move towards modernising agriculture, sugarcane farming will now adopt mechanisation in place of manual labour. To promote this initiative, an awareness rally was flagged off from the premises of Magadh Sugar and Energy Limited. The rally was inaugurated by the company’s COO, Pankaj Kumar Singh, who cut the ribbon to mark the start of the campaign.
Officials signaled the beginning of the rally with a green flag, encouraging farmers to embrace mechanised methods in sugarcane cultivation.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh stressed that mechanisation is the need of the hour in sugarcane farming. He noted that the scarcity of labour is becoming a growing challenge. Farmers currently depend on manual labour from planting to harvesting, which is time-consuming and costly. He pointed out that with mechanisation, tasks that typically take two weeks can be completed in a matter of hours, reported Live Hindustan.
He further explained that processes like trenching and earthing up in sugarcane fields become much easier with machines. By integrating mechanisation into their farming practices, farmers can gain several advantages, including increased efficiency and reduced dependency on seasonal labour.
The rally aimed to raise awareness among farmers about the benefits of adopting mechanisation in agriculture, especially in sugarcane farming, as a step toward more sustainable and efficient farming practices.
