Muzaffarpur is set to welcome three new ethanol plants, which are expected to be built by three different companies. These companies have submitted their proposals to the state’s Department of Industries, and the proposals have been forwarded to the Bihar State Investment Promotion Board for approval.
The investment proposal for an ethanol plant in Damodarpur, Motipur, is currently under consideration. Another proposal for an ethanol unit is located in the Motipur industrial area, while a third proposal for a plant is in Jahura, Sahebganj block, reported Dainik Bhaskar.
All three plants will produce ethanol from grains. While the proposals for the Motipur units have already been approved by the State Investment Promotion Board, the approval for the plant in Jahura is expected at the next board meeting.
The plants will be established in the western sub-division of Muzaffarpur.
Once operational, the new plants are expected to create around 5,000 jobs, both direct and indirect. Approximately 3,000 workers will be employed directly at the facilities, while an additional 2,000 people will find jobs in transportation and other associated sectors.
The state government has identified ethanol production as a key industry under its industrial policy, with a special focus on grain-based ethanol. This initiative aligns with Bihar’s efforts to become a leading hub for ethanol production in the near future.
The establishment of these plants will not only generate jobs but also benefit farmers by creating a new market for local grains. Additionally, ethanol manufacturing is considered a high-priority sector, and the government offers subsidies and other incentives to encourage the growth of this industry.
The new ethanol plants in Muzaffarpur represent a significant step forward in supporting local employment, boosting the regional economy, and promoting sustainable energy production in Bihar.
