Bihar will become one of the leading ethanol producers in the country, said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the state’s first grain-based ethanol plant on Saturday, he said that this plant will benefit farmers from Purnia and Kosi divisions comprising seven districts.
He claimed that the state is witnessing rapid industrial growth for the last few years and asserted it will soon become one of the leading ethanol producers in the country.
CM said, “Increase in ethanol production will help in arresting the increasing prices of petrol and diesel. The 20% ethanol blending would help in lowering the prices of fuel in India.”
The plant, set up by Eastern India Biofuels Private Limited at a cost of Rs 105 crore, is spread over 15 acres of land at Ganeshpur Parora.
Central government is also leaving no stone unturned to boost the ethanol production in the country. Earlier Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had urged the sugar producers to reduce the production of sugar and shift to the conversion of sugar into ethanol, in line with the realities of changing times and the needs of the nation.
