Bijnor: In a recent meeting attended by the ADM Finance and Revenue, Arvind Kumar Singh, and SDM, Mohit Kumar, a case of selling molasses at a higher price and showing lower billing was brought to light by the Youth State President, Chaudhary Digambar Singh. The ADM assured the farmers and stated that the sugar mill should settle the price difference in molasses sales by July 3, otherwise, legal action would be taken next day.
The instructions were issued to the mill in a meeting held at the collectorate on Monday. During the meeting, Digambar Singh, youth head of the BKU said that the mill is selling molasses at Rs 500 per quintal when the actual market rate is Rs 950 per quintal.
Farmers have threatened to launch an agitation if the mill fails to provide a satisfactory explanation. A warning was issued that if a solution is not reached within the given timeframe, protests would be organized.
