Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills in Bijnor have ended the crushing operations for the ongoing season 2020-2021. Interestingly, mills have crushed more sugarcane in the current season. The cane crushing season in the district concluded on Monday.
According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, in the previous season, the mills continued cane crushing till mid-June but in the current season, the mills ended cane crushing on time. The mills had crushed 11.38 crore quintals of sugarcane in season 2019-20, whereas they crushed 11.45 crore quintals of sugarcane in the current season.
District Cane Officer Yashpal Singh said that the cane crushing operations in the district is over and now we are ensuring sugar mills make pending cane payment to sugarcane farmers.
As of 31st May 2021, out of 120 mills which operated this season in the state, 116 mills have ended their crushing and only 4 mills continue their operations as compared to 14 mills which operated last year on the corresponding date.
