“Biofuels will play major role in helping India become energy self-sufficient”

Increasing usage of indigenously made Biofuels will play a major role in helping India become energy self-sufficient and achieve NetZero targets, said Shrikant Vaidya, Chairman, of Indian Oil Corporation, reports UNIIndia.

“We will achieve 20% ethanol blending by 2025 and now need to take up agressively ethanol blending in diesel that will help in lowering the country’s forex bill due to oil imports as well as reduce pollution,” he said.

“Biofuels programme aims to double farmer’s income and create jobs in rural areas that would result in inclusive growth. IOCL is committed to green growth and we have set up an internal target of 2046 for NetZero operations,” said Vaidya.

“We are working on building SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) capacities to meet CORSA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) guidelines that would help in the decarbonization of the Aviation sector,” he added.
