Hapur: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) protested outside the district collector demanding clearance of pending cane dues from Simbhawali and Brajnathpur sugar mill, reports Live Hindustan.
The delegation of farmers submitted a memorandum of their demands to the DM and demanded the district administration ensure that the mill’s clear cane dues in time.
District unit head Pawan Hun said that around 70,000 cane farmers are engaged in cane cultivation. Simbhawali sugar mill owes Rs 325 crore and Brajnathpur sugar mill owes Rs 175 crore.
DM assured them that the government will ensure that mills clear cane dues in time.
