Meerut: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has launched an indefinite dharna at collectorate in Shamli on Monday over the pending cane dues and redressal of grievances related to land acquisition and electricity, reports Hindustan Times.
Accusing the state government of scaring farmers, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said that the issue would not be resolved without dialogue. He claimed that more than Rs 560 crore was due on sugar mills of the district and the government was misleading people by presenting fake data.
