Mandi Dhanaura, Uttar Pradesh: At a panchayat meeting organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Non-Political), farmers demanded the prompt payment of outstanding sugarcane dues from the last crushing season by Wave Industries, reported Amar Ujala.
Additionally, the panchayat called for an increase in the credit limit of the Kisan Credit Card from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
Addressing the meeting on Monday, State General Secretary Bijendra Sharma asserted that ₹3 lakh is meagre for farming purposes in an era of inflation.
Farmers demanded the administration to make sure that the sugar mill cleared pending cane dues.
Key participants in the panchayat included Balwinder Singh, Mahendra Singh, Kanti Sharma, Haji Yusuf, Kusum Devi, Sanjeev Pradhan, Nawab Haidar, and Dharmendra Singh.
