Brazilian leading sugar and ethanol producer Raizen has announced its sugarcane crushing figures for the second quarter of the 2024-25 crop season, reporting a total of 32.9 million tonnes.
In its latest filing, Raizen stated that sugar production for the quarter is equivalent between 4.6-4.8 million tonnes. This production surge is complemented by strong sugar sales, which reached 5 million tonnes in the quarter.
The company also highlighted its ethanol sales, totaling 1.76 million cubic meters in the quarter.
On Thursday, sugar prices surrendered earlier gains and recorded moderate losses due to forecasts of plentiful rain in Brazil’s Center-South over the coming week, easing some drought worries. Meteorologist Climatempo indicated on Monday that substantial rainfall is anticipated in the region starting Friday, which will help maintain milder temperatures and enhance soil moisture.
