Sao Paulo: For the 2023/24 season Brazil is expected to produce six billion liters of corn ethanol, an increase of 36.7% over the last season, said trade group Unem, reports Nasdaq.
As per the data, ethanol production using corn in Brazil continues to increase even during the economic downturn during the pandemic as the demand for cleaner alternative fuel increases.
Corn ethanol is expected to account for 19% of all ethanol consumed in the country in the next season, up from 13.7% in the current year, according to Unum.
The ethanol produced from sugarcane is likely to reach 27 billion liters during the current harvest ending this month, said Unem.
Guilherme Nolasco, CEO of Unem said, “Despite the adversaries faced during a pandemic and lowering of economic activities, we are expecting the next harvest with the growth of 1,053% compared to 2017.”
The data on the production of biofuels and animal nutrition products will be presented to Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro, said Unem.
