Brazil’s CS sugar production reach 2.57 MMT in first half of May: UNICA

Sao Paulo, Brazil: As per the data from industry group UNICA released on Friday, sugar production in Brazil’s centre-south region surged by 0.97% in the first half of May compared to the same period last year. UNICA reported that mills in the region produced 2.57 million metric tonnes (MMT) of sugar in the said period.

For the 2024-25 season through mid-May, sugar production rose 25.75 per cent y/y to 5.135 MMT.

Data from UNICA showed that Brazil’s CS sugarcane crushing totaled 44.75 MMT in the first half of May, up 0.43% from a year ago.
