BSF foils another sugar smuggling attempt

The Border Security Force (BSF) is intensifying efforts to combat sugar smuggling along the international borders, leaving no stone unturned to curb illicit activities. With a proactive approach, BSF personnel are employing advanced surveillance techniques and enhancing vigilance to intercept any attempts of smuggling sugar across the border.

BSF Guwahati informed that in drive to curb transborder smuggling, vigilant bordermen of 49 BN BSF apprehended one smuggler with 5880 kgs sugar, meant for smuggling to Bangladesh, on Indo-Bangladesh international border in Distt-South Salamara Mankachar.

On June 24, as part of efforts to combat cross-border smuggling, vigilant BSF personnel from the 49th Battalion apprehended one smuggler and confiscated 2200 kilograms of sugar along the Indo-Bangladesh international border in South Salamara Mankachar district.

On June 22, BSF seized 5880 kgs sugar worth Rs 2.06 lakh on Indo-Bangladesh international border in South Salamara Mankachar district.

The BSF has urged local residents in border areas to refrain from illegal activities and to cease assisting Bangladeshi smugglers.
