Shillong: A vehicle carrying a large quantity of sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh was intercepted, and two Indian nationals were apprehended in the East Jaintia Hills district on Friday, reported The Times of India.
“Acting on specific information, BSF troops identified and intercepted a truck loaded with 24,000 kg of sugar in the Kuliang border area. During questioning, the driver and co-driver could not produce any valid documents for the sugar consignment,” stated a BSF Meghalaya Frontier HQ release on Saturday.
The statement added that the seized sugar and the two apprehended individuals were handed over to the customs office in Badarpur for further legal proceedings.
