Kolhapur: Criticising the budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, former MP and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana leader Raju Shetti stated that the budget has failed to meet the expectations of the sugarcane cultivators and sugar sector.
Shetti said, “More than 2 and a half-hour-long speech by the minister has not delivered anything new for the people. There are comments that the budget is good for the people but the minister has done nothing for the agricultural sector and farmers. The cases of farmers suicides are increasing, farmers are becoming indebted, they lack infrastructure and need new technology. There is a need for new research in the agricultural sector but the government has not paid attention to these issues.”
