The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase greenlit the procurement of sugar during its session on Thursday, reported The Financial Express.
Headed by Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, the meeting took place in the conference room of the Cabinet Division.
As per the decision, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has been authorized to purchase 8,000 tonnes of sugar from S Alam Refined Sugar Industries Ltd for Tk 1.076 billion, with each kilo priced at Tk 134.50. The TCB will also acquire 5.0 million liters of soybean oil from Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Ltd for Tk 779.85 million, with each liter costing Tk 155.97.
