Lucknow: Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have not cleared 100 per cent cane dues for the season 2021-22, therefore the Centre on Thursday warned them of stopping the subsidy in case it is not used in cane payment, reports The Times of India.
The warning was issued in a meeting of the cane development department that was attended by Subodh Kumar Singh, joint secretary, ministry of food and public distribution system and Sanjay Bhoosreddy, additional chief secretary, cane development.
During the meeting, Singh said, “The sugar mills should use the subsidies they get from the Centre to clear the pending cane dues and those not doing so may be deprived of the subsidies.”
