Chandpur, Uttar Pradesh: Chandpur sugar mill began cane crushing operations from Monday. The formal inauguration of the crushing season was done by MLA Kamlesh Saini and Indu Singh, director, cooperative bank, Lucknow. The first preference to crush sugarcane was given to the sugarcane farmer from Mansurpur village named as Kalu Singh who was carrying cane loaded from his field. The cane was put into the cane chain indicating the starting of cane operations for this season.
According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, the farmers and BKU activists participated in the ceremony to start the operations of the mill. They raised the issues of pending cane arrears.
