Chhattisgarh: Farmers to get 50 kg sugar at subsidised rates, says Deputy Chief Minister

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government continues its dedicated efforts to improve the welfare of farmers, resulting in increased income for them.

Following the directives of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, the Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory in Ramhepur has disbursed ₹6.02 crore to sugarcane farmers under the FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) scheme for the 2023-24 crushing season. This latest payment brings the total disbursed to ₹113.52 crore, ensuring that all farmers who sold sugarcane during the 2023-24 season have received 100% of their costs.

“The Bhoramdev Sugar Factory has completed 100% payment to all farmers,” announced Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma. “Additionally, we will soon provide farmers with 50 kg of sugar at a subsidized rate. The proceeds from the sale of sugarcane have brought joy to the farmers, especially during the festive season.”

The Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory has maintained its commitment to 100% FRP payments, as in previous years. Increased farmer awareness and the supply of high-quality sugarcane have led to higher recovery rates this year, promising farmers a higher recovery amount compared to last year. This additional amount will be disbursed soon, creating excitement among the farmers.

It is noteworthy that while the sugar factory manages the FRP and recovery amounts, the incentive or bonus for sugarcane is provided by the Agriculture Department of the Chhattisgarh government. The state government has allocated this bonus to the agricultural budget and will ensure prompt distribution to the sugarcane farmers.
