Kawardha, Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma flagged off a study tour of sugarcane farmers to Maharashtra today. The delegation includes over a hundred farmers from the operational areas of Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory and Sardar Patel Cooperative Sugar Factory. The tour aims to familiarize farmers with advanced techniques in modern sugarcane farming.
Addressing the farmers, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma highlighted the importance of acquiring new knowledge and technologies in agriculture. Accompanying him were authorized officials and Collector Gopal Verma, who emphasized the significance of this tour. He stated that it would provide farmers with insights into the latest research and technological advancements in sugarcane farming.
The study team will receive training at the Vasant Dada Patil Sugar Institute in Pune (Maharashtra) and will visit Krishi Vigyan Kendras and sugar mills in Baramati, Pandharpur, and Satara. The training will focus on modern sugarcane varieties, techniques for higher yields, and methods to achieve better recovery rates. Following this, the farmers will visit the Padegaon Sugarcane Research Center and Baramati Agricultural Science Center, where they will learn about research-based innovations in sugarcane farming.
During the tour, farmers will visit a sugar mill in Pandharpur to gain a deeper understanding of the sugar production process. Later, a special meeting will be held in Satara, where farmers will exchange practical experiences related to sugarcane cultivation.
The primary goal of this tour is to equip farmers with modern farming techniques to enhance production and improve crop quality. This move would increase the earnings of the farmers and also give a direction to the district’s sugarcane production sector.
